Sweaters

I know that it is still early to talk about the winter months, considering it is still August. One of my favorite trends this winter is the huge, chunky sweaters. Last winter it was very cold in my house and I couldn't find any of my sweaters or cardigans, so I decided to look in my parents closet. As I was looking through my moms things I saw a forest green chunky knit on my dad's side of closet. What did I do? I might have taken it and declared it mine (:
Now this winter is all about chunky knits, so I guess you could say I was ahead of everyone else. Haha just kidding. But I really do love this trend. A huge sweater looks great with leggings or skinny jeans. The loose on top and tight on the bottom really compliment each other.
To be honest I have already bought two sweaters on sale this summer and I can't wait to wear them, even though I am enjoying this summer.

So what are you looking forward to this winter? What trends are you excited to try and which do you think you could live without?

Social Media

Remember when everyone was paranoid about social media because they didn't want to get kidnapped by some creep on myspace? That was every body's biggest fear of the Internet. Now with all the social media out there, everybody seems obsessed. Making new friends online is just one of the many exciting parts of social media.
I felt like writing a post today about social media because last night I finally started a Pintrest account. I know that I may be late on the Pintrest trend but I can't help but become addicted. Being an aspiring designer I love all the inspiration that could be found on the site.

Instagram is also a part of my daily routine, checking it at least three or four times a day, if not more.

Sites like Polyvore (which I am not sure is considered social media?), is a great way to express yourself through fashion and everyone can see your creativity.

So what do you think about all the social media sites online? Which are your favorite and which have become overrated in your opinion?

Rain

I don't know about the weather where all of you live, but in my town the weather has been very bipolar. Some days it is really nice and others its pours all day long. But who says the rain has to change the way you dress? When the weather gets bad you should get creative. I love all the new types of rain boats you can get now adays. All of the different prints and colors, you could have a pair to match any outfit.

What are your bad weather favorites and how do you get creative with your clothes?

Mad Hatter

So after flipping through the pages of the newest issue of Vogue, I have come to find the newest trend is hats. But not the standard baseball cap, that in my opinion has never been in style, but huge extravagant hats. In Marc Jacobs latest campaign every picture is sporting one.

But Marc Jacobs, who is also the creative director for Louis Vuitton, didn't just use this trend for his own line. He used the trend for Louis Vuitton's Fall Campaign.

So will any of you be sporting this trend in the fall or will you just down size a bit?

Striped Jeans

This fall a new trend is stripped jeans. I personally love this look because it adds a twist to skinny jeans. printed jeans have been so hot this season but strips are making a come back. When I saw this trend in the pages of Teen Vogue I absolutely knew that I need to add this staple to my wardrobe.

Influence

Hi everyone. So today I want to talk about influence because I just bought the book by Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. The Olsen twins are two people who inspire me to pursue a career in fashion.

Back round Information on Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen:
Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen have a clothing line at Wal-Mart for girls ages 4-14 stores across North America, as well as a beauty line called "Mary-Kate and Ashley: Real fashion for real girls".
In 2004 they made news by signing a pledge to allow full maternity leave to all the workers that sew their line of clothing in Bangladesh. The National Labor Committee, which organized the pledge, praised the twins for their commitment to worker rights.
The sisters have also have their own couture fashion label, The Row, which they named after Savile Row in London. In 2007, the Olsen twins launched Elizabeth & James, a contemporary collection inspired by their style of unique vintage finds and pieces in their personal wardrobes. They have also released a women's clothing line Olsenboye, at J.C. Penney, and a t-shirt line called StyleMint.

In their book they talk to artists, designers, photographers, writers, and personalities. Some include Diane von Frurstenburg, Peter Beard, Karl Lagerfeld, Chirstian Louboutin, and John Galliano.

I love reading books about fashion and style. They are really inspirational to me and make me want to follow my dreams :)

Now I want to know what influences all of you! So leave a comment letting me know what influences/inspires you in fashion, life, etc.
